Potential Red Flags Within Commercial Landscape Maintenance Contracts

by | Jun 22, 2022

  1. Really Low Prices

Sure, everyone is seeking the most value for the cheapest price. However, in many cases than not, a low price should cause you to pause. Too good to be true typically applies. When you receive bids from several providers, they should be reasonably comparable in price. If not, it may be indicating a difference in service or cutting corners by saving costs in other areas. Ensure that you are comparing apples to apples when reviewing. This could save you incremental time and costs in the future.

  1. Unclear payment terms

There should be details on the cost of specific services and when payment timing should occur for each. Further, late fees should be documented so that you know what you will be charged in the event of late payment. Finally, the form of payment should also be documented for clarity. Disputes over money is one of the most common, and clarity in the contract is essential.

  1. Foggy language on services

A detailed list of services should be provided like mowing, blowing, trimming, and pruning. The timing and frequency of the services should also be included. Without this, you will not have a clear understanding of what to expect, and this will likely leave you unsatisfied with your service at some point in the future.

  1. Sketchy insurance coverage

Insurance information should be included in the contract, and you should ask for it to be provided when it’s not clear. You can be liable for injuries that occur on your property if your service provider isn’t properly covered.

At Give Green, our desire is to provide you with the details you need to feel comfortable. Ask away. Its important to us that you are comfortable and know what to expect from our services.
